Rugby players love to play in the rain, but until we own our own fields we have to follow the Fairfax County Park Authority’s decision about field closures. So be sure to check the FCPA fields hotline at 703-324-5264 or their web site.  Updated each weekday by 3:00pm.  No update on weekends. If the fields are open, or it’s the weekend, assume that practice or games will go on as scheduled.  Any further decision about cancellation will be made at the field based on current weather and field conditions.  (Remember there are local variations and the fact that storms can move fast.) Note:  In the event of nearby thunder and lightning, we will stop play and take shelter for at least 30 minutes after the last occurrence. Also Note:  We generally practice and play in the heat. It is summertime, after all.  But we always take appropriate precautions such as liberal breaks and encouragement to drink lots of water.
